Breaking Down Scar Tissue to Restore Movement
The Graston Technique is a chiropractic method that uses specialized instruments to perform soft-tissue mobilization. It’s one of the more popular treatments used by athletes at every level, and it can help anyone dealing with pain and restricted movement from scar tissue, strained muscles, or overuse injuries to a tendon, ligament, or fascia.
Specially trained providers use Graston tools to locate muscle knots and scar tissue that restrict movement and cause pain, then use those same tools to break up the restrictive tissue and help restore mobility and function. Scar tissue can build up after a surgical procedure or from overuse and repetitive strain — symptoms often include pain, swelling, and stiffness in the affected area.
We frequently pair Graston Technique with chiropractic manipulation, massage therapy, and kinesio taping to support a fuller recovery.
